Venezuelan born and Portuguese native, Maria Constanza Ferreira is an interdisciplinary artist and director practicing across a range of media including digital video, photography, and experiential installation. She is currently progressing her work in the field of chemical crystallography as an artist-in-residence and researcher at New York University's Department of Chemistry under the Kahr Research Group. She earned a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design as a double major in Film/Animation/Video and Graphic Design.

Arizona
Installation

Arizona is a digital animation in the form of an immersive moving painting. The imagery derives from a satellite imag of Arizona obtained from the United States Geological Survey. My intention with this piece was to saturate the still photograph with movement and life, allowing the the viewer to become lost in the full sublime and drama of the image and forget about proportion and the human form. Radiating with geographical beauty, the textured map reveals its own story of growth and transformation- color, in full spectrum, beaming over decades of time.
